Hong Kong – Manulife today announced senior leadership appointments to its Asia Distribution Team as the company continues to accelerate its growth and further strengthen its diverse distribution channels across the region.
Bonnie Qiu will join Manulife as Chief Distribution Officer, Asia, effective 19 August 2024. She will report to Phil Witherington, President & CEO of Manulife Asia. Ms. Qiu will be responsible for driving the development and growth of Manulife’s multi-channel distribution platform across its 12 insurance markets in Asia - from elevating agency performance and service quality to deepening bancassurance partnerships and maximizing the impact of its digital transformation.
Ms. Qiu brings a wealth of experience in the financial services industry and deep insights into Asia. She joins Manulife from The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC), where she was most recently Managing Director, Business Development Asia Pacific, responsible for uplifting collaboration revenues between lines of businesses.
With over two decades of experience at HSBC across the globe, Ms. Qiu has held various leadership roles in Wealth and Personal Banking, including the CEO of HSBC Bank Mauritius and the Group Head of Premier and Jade, which she helped the bank to elevate customer experience and drive revenue growth. Bonnie has also held market head roles in mainland China and Taiwan, and, earlier in her career, was a Senior Branch Manager of HSBC’s largest branch globally, in addition to her board experience across bank and insurance entities.
In addition, Rishi Srivastava will join Manulife as Chief Agency Officer, Asia, effective 19 August 2024. He will report directly to Ms. Qiu and be responsible for driving high quality sustainable growth of our agency channels, enabled by digital tools and differentiated propositions.
Mr. Srivastava joins from AIA, where he was the Chief Executive Officer of Group Agency Distribution, overseeing its agency business and driving the digital transformation of its agency force. Prior to that, he was the Managing Director & CEO of Tata AIA Life Insurance, and, before that, Director at AXA Financial Indonesia.
"Bonnie is highly regarded in the financial services industry and has an outstanding track record in elevating customer experience and driving high-quality growth," said Mr. Witherington. "Her deep appreciation of the region and strong expertise on customer-centricity will help us advance towards our ambition of being the number one choice for our customers. As our Chief Agency Officer of Asia, Rishi's extensive experience and relentless focus on execution will enable us to further enhance our agency platform across 12 insurance markets in Asia."
"The strong new additions to our Asia Distribution team underscore Manulife's culture as a sustainable competitive advantage and our promising business potential in Asia as we continue to advance towards our ambition."
