Manulife announces $100,000 donation to support communities impacted by the Nova Scotia tragedy
Supporting Canadian Red Cross Stronger Together Nova Scotia Fund and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia

TORONTO – Today, Manulife announced a $100,000 donation to support the health and well-being of communities impacted by the tragic events on April 18 and 19.
We engaged with community leaders to determine where our support could make the greatest impact.
“As proud, long-standing members of the Nova Scotia community, we want to demonstrate that Manulife stands with the people of Nova Scotia in these difficult times and is providing funds and support where it’s needed most,” said Mike Doughty, President and CEO, Manulife Canada.
Manulife is a member of the Canadian Red Cross Disaster Response Alliance, which brings together leading Canadian companies to help meet the increasing need for disaster response and bolster disaster preparedness. Support for this fund allows the Canadian Red Cross to assist with recovery and resiliency in the most effective way through consultation with affected families, individuals, and communities.

This national support for Nova Scotians living with mental illness and addiction will go a long way toward changing the way people think, particularly during these trying and heartbreaking times.”
The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia has strong relationships with partners and agencies communities across the province and works to increase financial support to community initiatives throughout Nova Scotia while providing hope and eradicating the stigma around mental illness and addiction. Manulife’s donation will go to increasing funding for its partners online mental health support and other solutions as a result of COVID-19 implications.
