Manulife Taiwan Launches Universal Variable Life Product

Taipei - Manulife Taiwan has launched a new universal variable life product called “Quan-Xin-Quan-Li Universal Variable Life (UHL)”.  This is a back-end load product that allocates the full premium to investment assets at the start of the policy. The product provides flexible investment options: customers can choose a mandate structure whereby Manulife Asset Management manages the customer’s fund selection, or they can make their own fund selection from a wide range of underlying funds. The two NTD-denominated mandated investment accounts pay an annual target income of 5 per cent or 7 per cent provided certain criteria are met (Note 1). The UHL product allows policyholders to select investment portfolios according to their personal preferences and risk tolerance levels, and is designed to provide life insurance protection and wealth accumulation.

The UHL offers the following key features:

1. Combination of Protection and Investment
The UHL features life insurance protection and investment opportunities, allowing policyholders to plan according to their needs at different life stages and providing protection to family members at the same time.

2. Diversified Investment Portfolio

  • Investment Options
The UHL offers 165 investment choices including stock and bond funds and ETFs in different currencies. Policyholders can select and switch among the investment options according to individual preferences and risk tolerance levels. In addition, policyholders can select or combine the target payout mandates (the 5 per cent annualized target “Value” payout rate or the 7 per cent annualized target “Growth” payout rate) with other mutual funds and ETFs to meet their needs. For the target payout mandates, Manulife’s professional team will utilize the specially designed asset allocation optimization model to minimize risk with the aim of delivering stable returns.
  • Top-up Options
The minimum single premium is NTD300,000 and policyholders have the option to make regular or ad-hoc top-up premium payments as they see appropriate to diversify investment timing and manage long-term investment returns.
3. Free Fund Transfer
Policyholders enjoy up to 12 free switches per year among all the funds for ease of financial planning and flexibility in asset allocation.

Manulife Taiwan introduced the first investment-linked product to the Taiwan market in 2000. With our financial strength, Manulife Taiwan continues to develop forward-thinking products that meet the needs of the Taiwan people, striving to be the most reliable and trustworthy insurance brand in Taiwan.
