Popular Cost of Care Calculator Now Available to iPad Users

Boston - John Hancock introduced an iPad app, John Hancock Cost of Care Calculator, that provides a convenient way to view the average current local costs for long-term care in various settings and cities across the United States and also offers the ability to estimate future care needs and the potential costs that could be incurred on an inflation-adjusted basis.

“We hope that making our cost of care information and calculator available on an iPad will help people take the first critical step in planning for their long-term care needs,” said Marianne Harrison, president, John Hancock Long-Term Care Insurance. “We’ve heard great feedback from people who’ve used these tools online and hope that now by being able to take them anywhere on an iPad, even more people will be encouraged to use them.”

• View average local long-term care costs on a daily, monthly and annual basis
• View costs in different care settings, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day care and home-based care
• Hypothetically estimate potential long-term care needs from 0-10 years within each care setting
• View total potential costs for long-term care in today’s dollars
• Project total potential costs for long-term care based on inflation, for up to 50 years into the future
