Manulife makes key new appointments in its Asia and Hong Kong operations

Hong Kong— Manulife Financial and Manulife (International) Limited, a member of the Manulife Financial group of companies, have announced the following senior-executive appointments and promotions:

May Wong has been promoted to Vice President, Human Resources, Asia. Her new role covers a broad range of services including staffing, executive learning and development, talent management, succession planning, and employee relations in Asia, as well as being involved in some corporate projects. She also provides strategic Human Resources support to Manulife’s Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Asia Regional Operations. Ms Wong joined Manulife Hong Kong in 1997, and became Assistant Vice President, Human Resources for Manulife Hong Kong operations in 2004 before joiningManulife Asia Operations in 2007.  Ms Wong holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Life Office Management Institute.

Jim Mclnnis has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Distribution Compliance at Manulife Hong Kong’s Agency Operations. He is responsible for enhancing the compliance programmes relating to distributing the company’s insurance and investment products in Hong Kong. Mr. McInnis comes from Manulife’s Canadian division, where he spearheaded the development of industry-leading programmes to assess compliance practices of Managing General Agencies and Independent Advisors. He holds Bachelor’s degrees from York University in Toronto and the University of Guelph.

Joanne Lee becomes Assistant Vice President and Financial Controller of Manulife Hong Kong. With more than 18 years of solid insurance-industry and technical experience, she will be overseeing the Manulife Hong Kong controllers’ functions, including financial, regulatory and management reportings, planning and budgeting, treasury, cash management and financial compliance. Prior to joining Manulife, Ms Lee worked for two international insurers.  She holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Accountancy and Actuarial Science from universities in Hong Kong, and is a fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

John Parker has been made Assistant Vice President, Proposition and Product Development, in Manulife Hong Kong’s Individual Financial Products team. Backed by more   than 10 years’ experience in product development, he will help strengthen Manulife’s product and marketing capability in Hong Kong and bring innovative new products to the market. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Parker worked in the individual insurance product development in Manulife’s Canadian division. He holds Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Life Underwriter designations in Canada and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
