Triple–A Manulife Wins Excellent Services Brands Awards

Sing Tao readers provide overwhelming vote of confidence

Hong Kong— Triple-A-rated Manulife (International) Limited (MIL), a perennial collector of accolades for its outstanding level of customer service, has recently topped the inaugural Sing Tao Excellent Services Brands Awards 2006, with a resounding 40 per cent of the vote among its peers in the insurance industry. The Award Presentation Ceremony was held on March 15, 2007 at the Kowloon Shangri-La Hotel.Sing Tao Daily, one of the most widely read Chinese-language newspapers in Hong Kong and overseas, launched the Awards for the very first time to highlight the contribution of service delivery to the success of those brands that make particular appeal to well-educated and lifestyle-conscious consumers, and to encourage its emulation.

Five leading insurance companies in Hong Kong were nominated in the “Insurance Services Provider” category, and readers were invited to vote, once only, during a two-week period in January this year, by fax or Internet, for the company that they think offers the best service delivery. Manulife received some 4,000 valid votes, which amounted to 40 per cent of the total ballot in the overall insurance category.

“We are honoured to be voted top again in the insurance sector,” commented Michael Huddart, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Hong Kong, MIL. “The Award is a tribute to the prominent role we have always allotted the provision of first-class service to our customers. Having the best products in the marketplace is only half the battle — they have to be backed up with ongoing, unremitting service excellence.

Manulife was voted No. 1 in the “Insurance Company” category of Next Magazine’s Top Service Award in 2006 — the seventh time it has picked up this award since it was introduced in 1995.

In November 2006, Manulife was rated by Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services as “AAA”, underscoring its robust market position, sound management team and excellent financial strength. The ‘AAA’ rating is the highest level among 21 rating categories at Standard & Poor’s.
