Six-time winner raised HK$600,000-plus for the needy in the local community

Hong Kong — Manulife (International) Limited attained yesterday the Challenge Cup – Overall Top Fund-raiser Award and Top Fund-raiser Award in Hong Kong and Kowloon Walk from The Community Chest of Hong Kong for the 2006/2007 Walks for Millions program. This is the sixth consecutive year that Manulife has been awarded the prestigious Overall Top Fund-raiser Challenge Cup.

“We are truly delighted to have been presented with these two recognition awards again by The Community Chest,” said Michael Chan, Vice President, Distribution, Hong Kong, Manulife (International) Limited. “We are also very proud of our staff and insurance/financial advisors for their unselfishness and ongoing commitment in this meaningful cause, which now becomes a regular event in our activity calendar.”

The 2006/2007 Hong Kong and Kowloon Walk for Millions was held on January 7, 2007 and about 1,000 Manulife staff, insurance/financial advisors as well as their family members partook in it. The walkathon raised more than HK$13 million for the Chest in provision of the children and youth services offered by its social welfare agencies. The Manulife team alone contributed more than HK$600,000 of the total fund raised.

As the official Worldwide Life-Insurance Partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the Manulife team was joined by Olympic Fuwa Huanhuan who cheered on them at the starting point, and added fun and joy to the event.

Participation in the Walks for Millions event was organised by Manulife Recreation Club (MRC), which was set up in 1975 to coordinate recreational and welfare activities as well as community services for the Company’s staff and insurance/financial advisors. MRC’s 2006/07 President is Raymond Chan, Manulife’s Walks for Millions 2006/07 Project Chairman and Project Vice-chairlady are William Lo and Ada Mok respectively.
