Manulife Life Insurance Company Appoints New Chairman

Tokyo - Manulife Life Insurance Company (Head Office: Chofu-shi, Tokyo, President & CEO: Geoff Crickmay) announces the appointment of Robert A. Cook as a Director and the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Cook joined Manulife Financial in 1978, and in his 28 years with the Company he has held management positions in Manulife’s U.S., Canadian, International and Corporate divisions, in areas including strategic planning, product management for insurance and annuities, sales and marketing. He was most recently Executive Vice President, U.S. Protection and was appointed Senior Executive Vice President and General Manager, Asia in January 2007.
