Special sports day rounded-off with toys presentation
Hong Kong— Some 50 children from the Caritas Nursery School - Tsui Lam enjoyed a memorable day during a visit by the senior management of Manulife (International) Limited (MIL) — bearing Olympic-mascot plush toys for them all.
The Olympic Games mascot donation plus mini sports day was designed to give the kids, aged from three to six, a fun time with their parents through various organised sports games such as soccer, horse-riding and marathon, and to imbue them with the Olympic “spirit”. The highlight was the distribution of Olympic Games mascot soft toys by Michael Huddart, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Hong Kong, MIL, together with Olympic Games mascot Huan Huan. The fun figures have been chosen to spread the message of friendship and peace from China to the world.
Commented Mr. Huddart: “It is never too early to get interested in sport and to appreciate the happiness that healthy competition can bring. This is what the Olympic Games are all about and, as the Worldwide Life-Insurance Partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, we are doing everything we can to focus public attention on the aims and ideals of the Games, which in so many ways mirror our own corporate values.
“All our hopes for the future rest on children such as these, which is why we embarked on community programs that can bring smiles to them. We hope it is something that these youngsters will remember fondly for the rest of their lives, and that will help them to grow up respecting the qualities of fair play and doing one’s best that sport can encompass.”
Gloria Leung, Service Head of Caritas Pre-school Education and Child Care Service and Supervisor of Caritas Nursery School – Tsui Lam thanked Manulife’s support. “All our children and parents have an enjoyable time. This is a meaningful sponsorship for our children to learn how to be cooperative as a team as well as to face challenges with courage through the organised games and physical activities,” said Ms Leung.
The visit was part of the insurance company’s ongoing Olympic activation programs, aimed at spreading the spirit and joy of the Olympic Games.
