Sibu– Manulife Insurance (Malaysia) Berhad (Manulife Malaysia) today presented RM6,000 worth of electrical goods to Sibu Benevolent Society to help improve the quality of life of local underprivileged elderly people.

The items were presented by Manulife Malaysia Regional Head, Mr Teng Swee Hin to Sibu Benevolent Society Chairman, Mr Chew Peng Ann.

Mr Teng said: “I hope that the donation will help the residents better enjoy their twilight years. It is Manulife Malaysia’s way of thanking them for their past contributions which have helped to make our society a better place.”

“Today’s giving is very much a part of Manulife Malaysia's corporate philosophy to support health, education and community giving initiatives in our society. Given that Malaysia is celebrating its 50th year of Merdeka this year, we thought it was appropriate for Manulife to focus on charities that provide care and assistance to the elderly in recognition of the role they played in the development of our country over that time,” added Mr. Teng.

Sibu Benevolent Society received electrical items comprising ceiling fans, lighting equipment, cooking equipment and an exercise machine.

“We thank Manulife for their kind assistance. We appreciate the effort they made to find out how they could help our home which currently houses 32 residents,” said Mr Chew.
