Appointment of New Senior Management at Manulife Life Insurance Company

Tokyo - Please be advised that Manulife Life Insurance Company (“Manulife Japan”) appointed Mr. Yuji Minami to Corporate Officer & Vice-President (“VP”) in charge of Financial Institutions Development Department, effective as of October 1, 2007.

Mr. Minami developed his career in the insurance industry at Daihyaku Mutual Life Insurance Company, where he built up both expertise and experience in the Special Account Management Department and Marketing and Sales Promotion Department. After joining Manulife Japan, he has made a significant contribution to the Company in various areas of the Investment Products Department including product development of individual variable annuity insurance products and sales support to partner financial institutions.

Mr. Minami, as Corporate Officer & VP in charge of Financial Institutions Development Department at Manulife Japan, will take a lead in further promoting its bancassurance business by newly developing and further strengthening business relationships with various financial institutions in preparation for the anticipated full deregulation of insurance sales via banks.
