Bangkok - Manulife Thailand’s Managing Director, Mr. Bruce Hodges, and his senior management team joined local people in the Amphawar District, Samut Songkram Province to plant trees on Sunday November 10 as part of Manulife’s commitment to help protect the local environment.
The initiative, called “Love Life, Live Green”, saw Manulife Thailand’s management team and staff teaming up with local people and students of Amphawar District School to plant 100 trees to help bring the color of green back to the Amphawar area. As part of the initiative, Manulife Thailand will also be supporting a vegetable-planting project at the school.
Mr. Hodges explained: “Love Life, Live Green” is one of a number of social projects that Manulife is proud to be initiating. I am delighted that our management team, their staff and families have all joined forces to help make our community greener. Not only will this tree planting day help to improve the environment, but the campaign will also play a part in improving the quality of life for the Amphawar community as well as helping local students to learn more about environmental protection.”
Mr. Hodges continued: “The title of the campaign – ‘Love Life, Live Green’ – is particular fitting. We chose it to symbolize our commitment to supporting the communities in which we do business. “Life” symbolizes the fact that we live with and rely on each other as one community and “Green” is the color of nature – as well as Manulife’s own corporate color.”
This event is part of Manulife Thailand’s extensive community program. Entitled ‘Bringing Dreams to Life’, it is also the theme of Manulife’s sponsorship of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Mr. Hodges said: “Put simply, the aim of Manulife Thailand’s Bringing Dreams to Life program is to help bring dreams to life in the communities in which we live and work and helping to create a greener environment for everyone to enjoy is just one way that we can do that.”
