Manulife Japan Appoints New President And CEO

Tokyo - Manulife Life Insurance Company (“Manulife Japan”) (President and Chief Executive Officer: Geoff Crickmay) is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Bromley as President and Chief Executive Officer of Manulife Japan, effective December 29, 2007. The current President and CEO of Manulife Japan, Geoff Crickmay, is entering retirement after 37 years of service to Manulife Financial.

Mr. Bromley currently serves as Deputy President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer of Manulife Japan. In this role, he also serves as a Director and Executive Officer of the Company. Previously, Mr. Bromley held senior positions at Manulife Financial Corporation (Manulife Japan’s parent company) in Canada, including Senior Vice President, Business Development and Investor Relations. In that role, Mr. Bromley was responsible for Manulife’s merger and acquisition activity and worked on a number of Manulife transactions, including the acquisition of Daihyaku Life Insurance Company in Japan and Manulife’s merger with John Hancock Financial Services. Mr. Bromley joined Manulife in March 2000.

Mr. Bromley stated:
